Beyond The Horizon
Thursday, May 21st, 2009I posted a sunset photo a couple of days ago, and figured I’d post one more I took that night. The sky was just too pretty to ignore.
I posted a sunset photo a couple of days ago, and figured I’d post one more I took that night. The sky was just too pretty to ignore.
I actually got outside for a few minutes yesterday evening, so I went to a hill on Boedigheimer Rd SE, just outside of city limits (across Highway 22) to take a few sunset photos. The sky was clouding up, so it made the sky extra pretty. I may post another shot of the sunset later [...]
I took this photo near where Fern Ridge Rd. meets Highway 22. At the top of the field, in the middle of the horizon line, is the City of Stayton Public Works Reservoir & Pump Station, which I have posted at least one photo of in the past.
Today’s photo was taken on the corner of W. Washington St. and Larch Ave., looking south. I think it’s part of a power canal which runs through town. If anyone has better info on it, I’d be most appreciative.
I used to live down the street (on Larch Ave.) from this part of the canal (or [...]
My favorite Stayton trees, some oak trees off of 10th Ave., were looking quite pretty last night as the sun was setting. I love those trees.
In an apparent ongoing effort to photograph the Salem Ditch, a man made irrigation waterway running from Stayton to nearby Salem, I hereby yet another view. This one was taken on 4th Ave., facing east.
The photo probably looks better when viewed in a larger size.
It was extremely foggy for a lot of the day yesterday. I took the opportunity to take some fog-oriented shots, such as the one above. This is a farm field out E. Santiam St.
I took this a few days ago from the parking lot of Neitling Park. It’s looking through the trees to the Jordan Bridge at Pioneer Park across the street. I think this looks better large, so please click here to see it in a bigger size. G’wan, it won’t bite.
Today’s photo is of my favorite man-made waterway, otherwise known as the Salem Ditch. I took this from a street bridge on N. Evergreen Ave. I’m glad I caught it before more of the autumn leaves had left the trees for the winter.
Today is day 2 of guest photographer Sara Moberg’s photos (see also: yesterday’s photo), which were taken on her way to work on or around W. Shaff Rd. This is a simply gorgeous shot of the sun about to peek out from behind the horizon. Lovely.
I’ll be posting another of Sara’s photos tomorrow. Thanks again [...]
The leaves in today’s photo are just starting to turn pretty autumnal colors. That makes me happy. That those leaves will eventually fall off is the unhappy downside. But I’m happy to ignore that for now.
This was taken at my favorite power canal off of 4th Ave.
We’ve definitely moved into Autumn around here… it’s colder, windier, and rainier. But all that can make for some lovely clouds, as was the case a couple of days ago. I love clouds.
This was taken just off of 10th Ave., next to the hospital.
The sun was red on Wednesday night — a beautiful, peaceful looking red. I think it might have been caused by some wildfires in the general area… not sure. Whatever the cause, it was lovely.
I took this from Lone Oak Cemetery.
This is the edge of a field where N 9th Ave. and E. Virginia St. meet. It always makes me happy to see fields with big trees around. I think this one is part of a farm.
By the way, be sure to tune back in tomorrow for the September 1st City Daily Photo theme day. [...]
I’ve posted pictures of this little power canal between 3rd and 4th Ave. before (here’s one, and another, but this time I wanted to try something a little different.
If you have a windows-based computer, you should be able to view a Photosynth I made for the area around the canal. It’s kind of like a [...]
