Sign of the times

Stayton city center sign - Oregon

This city center sign (look for the red rectangle above, or click the photo to view the bigger version), on the corner of 1st Ave. and E. Marion St. in Stayton, is a recent, yet old, addition to the town.

This sign stood for many years, until it was taken down in 1980 due to deterioration. Some local folks saved it from the scrap heap and, with community support, were able to restore it and put it back up earlier this year. It's a great piece of Stayton's history.

Information source: The April 2006 newsletter of the Stayton Sublimity Chamber of Commerce. Look in the 'past newsletters' section and click on April's newsletter for the full story of the sign.
