Broken beehive

Broken Beehive in Stayton Oregon

We had some pretty heavy winds yesterday here in Stayton. When I went outside, there was a broken beehive laying in pieces in my driveway. The wind must have knocked it out of a tree, or maybe from the eaves of my house.

I don't think it was in use any longer (the beehive, not my house), but I'm no expert. No bees were anywhere around, but it's probably the wrong time of year for them, anyway. We've been having temperatures in the mid-60's (Fahrenheit) which is higher than normal for November, though, so who knows what's up with the little fellas.

Looks like a wasp's nest to me. Wasps are known for making paperlike nests. Be glad this one was abandoned!

I agree with Marie. Be glad it was abandoned ... Wonderful photo and story ... We have been having colder weather than normal this year ... I sure we can blame the strange weather on El Nenu.
