Doorways To Learning

Today's photo is of the entrance to the Stayton Middle School, a building my grandmother's brother helped build. He was a contractor.
I spent four academic years of my life in this place, and it's always strange to go back to see how little has changed. There are still some wooden signs up in the gym I helped paint back when I was in 7th grade (I think), which was *gasp* 19 years ago. I'm so old.
The signs were done in in art class, which was taught by my favorite teacher, Rebecca Penna. Mrs. Penna, wherever you are (Google says you're teaching in nearby Dallas, OR, now): you made a difference in my life, and I thank you.

Gosh - back to school day! Margaret in League City as well.
Wow, I haven't thought of Mrs. Penna in YEARS.
I was a couple of years ahead of you, I think.
(Yeah, I'm reading my way through your archives... It's making me homesick.)
