This is the first post in what I hope to be a daily blog featuring interesting sites in and around the Willamette Valley, in Oregon, USA. The Valley spreads between Portland and Eugene (more or less), and is nestled between two mountain ranges, the Cascades and the Coastal Range.

This first photo was taken at Pioneer Park, in Stayton, which is about 15 miles SE of Salem, our state capitol. It features the Jordan Bridge, a covered bridge which was transplanted from nearby Linn County. You can read more about its move, subsequent fire, and rebuilding at
Oregon.com.
