DP Theme Day: A Public Mail Box

Ol' Blue in Black and White

Ol' Blue in Black and White

This month's Daily Photo theme day is "a public mail box." There are no creative or otherwise unique public mail boxes in Stayton... just the standard things like the one above. They're all postal service blue, which is why I posted the photo in black and white. A bit of variation, I suppose.

Speaking of variation, back in October I posted a photo of some post office boxes, which are, in effect, private mail boxes in a public place.

Over 60 Daily Photo sites are participating in the 1st April theme, "A Public Mail Box", please use the links to below to visit them.

This is stunningly good B&W photography: sharp, beautiful balance of tones. It makes an ordinary subject jump off the screen.

Do I confess the first time I saw a post box in the US, I thought it was a rubbish bin?

Ham - that is just because you put your bills in it and think of it that way subconsiously. Excellent use of b&w I agree.

I like your October photo a lot. And thanks for the B&W image of the original. I was sure I would see blue all day in the US.
