Are You Lookin' At My Bum?

I stopped to take a picture of a pretty azalea near Pioneer Park yesterday, when a little interloper decided it would rather be photographed instead. The dude above is a narcissus fly, from what I've gathered (please correct me if I'm wrong), which is a type bee mimic. Yes, you are correct. I checked it in my insect books and there is one just like your's there. I had not seen this variety before. The ones we have here in Ohio look more like a enlarged honey bee. Your's tends to favor the American Bumblebee -- which is what I thought of when I first arrived at your blog. Nice photograph. The close-up is pretty good too.
I am anxious for you to see the Rose-Breasted Grosbeak that came to Brookville, Ohio yesterday. It is the first one I have seen since we moved here 44 years ago.
Great capture Celine. Very nice.
Man, this fly really has me tricked. I could swear it's a bumble. What features are ya'll using to determine that it's a mimic?

Awesome colors here! Pretty pinks!
there is a small difference with the bees in France, but that remains a beautiful macro photograph :)) Best regards, Sweet
