Population 7700

The population signs greets folks as they come into town near where Fern Ridge Rd. crosses Highway 22. Color me a bit surprised we've reached 7700 citizens. That's a lot for us.
Why, I remember when it used to be 5000 people. Ah, yes, the good ol' days when everything cost a nickel and people would give you the shirts off their backs 'cause folks were friendly, gosh darn it, and we didn't have shoes so we strapped cardboard to our feet but we were grateful to have that cardboard, and we walked uphill both ways in howling blizzards just to get the school...
Oh, wait... nope, sorry, that was when my grandparents were young. My bad. ;)

Your city is way ahead of mine. We are still between 5 and six thousand and a few dribble in each year. I suspect most of American fits your description.

I rolled on the floor, puked, screamed, and passed out. When I woke up the neighbor was gone.

hahahaha
are you going all "monty python" on us (lived in shoe box in middle o road)
I dream of only 7700 people... there are few more than that here in Sydney :)
I don't remember ever seeing a sign with a population on it around my area.
Hello
Very interesting, view.
Is it common to show how many citizens live in a town ?
In france we have sign like this in the border of roads...it's tells you haw many people are died in a car accident...it's less funny. But it is because lot of people drive too fast.
As a kid,I remember driving through town with my dad in our farm truck. He would wave at every car we passed, because he knew the people in both of them!

Lovely shot. I fondly remember when the old "Drive Carefully" city limits signs were the standard at all city limits in Oregon.
When I was growing up in Silverton, city population seemed stuck at 4750 for the longest time. Now it's nearly 8000 as well. And my eyes boggled at the five-figure numbers at the Salem city limits (68,700 if memory serves).
I think that whas where my obsession with road signs began, come to think....
