Wetland Enhancement Area

This area used to be a large field with trees, bushes, grasses, and flowers. But development took over, with houses and businesses moving in. Now there are only narrow areas such as this one where the natural state is preserved. This one is between a street with houses and a park.
I won't go into how I feel about the whole thing here, since I covered it last August, when I posted a photo of some of the houses. The very small areas between the houses such as this are beautiful, so I hope at least those are preserved, as the sign says.

It makes me wonder if a cache is there. :) Bet there is. :) I look at you Oregon photos often, not sure if I've ever commented before but I like seeing your posts.
PS - If you have no clue what I'm talking about you can go to geocaching.com and it will explain it all.
Love your photos and the topics you choose. Pity developers (and city planners) can't see the dollar value of leaving some areas in their natural state. You'll see the same thing happening in Bend ... when you make that first journey! Don't wait too long. There is less and less every day!
Here's what I know about this: the developer had to acquire a permit from the Oregon Department of State Lands to mitigate (restore) the wetland they had screwed up by building a bunch of houses down there. My wife and I (Susan) walked the area and noticed that scotch broom and black berries were taking over. We contacted the heroic Dan Fleishman, Stayton's Planning Director, and asked him to check up on the terms of the developers' agreement with the state. He did, the State visited the site and within days a crew showed up to clean the place up.
Please go back and help us keep track of the promises those guys made when we let them make a bunch of money in our home town. (The developer is from Bend) Please call Dan at City Hall and thank him for caring...
Your photography gets better by the week...thanks.

Thanks, Lisa and Drpack. I'll have to check out geocaching.com.... never been there before.
John, thank you so much for posting the information. I knew building in that area was a terrible idea, but I wasn't aware of the details. I appreciate it. I will keep an eye on the wetlands area.
And thank you for your kind words about my photography. You were my teacher in 10th grade for exactly two days before I had to be pulled out for medical reasons, but I remember those two days fondly. ;)
