DP Theme Day: A Typical Breakfast

Today's theme day is a typical breakfast. I don't normally eat what one might call breakfast foods, so I had to think about this one. And thinking isn't one of my strong points. ;)
Americans are rather notorious for rushing through their days. Mornings are no exception, so we tend to eat and run... if we eat anything at all. I thought about posting an Egg McMuffin from McDonald's, or just a cup of coffee. But in the end I went with toast and a mug of... well, I don't drink coffee, so let's just pretend that's what it is.
A whole host of other hungry folks (almost 100 of 'em!) are participating in today's theme day -- check them out below:

Toast and coffee...looks familiar!
The toast looks yummy!
Like you and Kate, that's what I'm inclined to eat, too.
As I read all these breakfast posts starting at 5 am my local time (Swiss), I'm reminded of trips to Denny's when I was in school and doing the late night study sessions. I'd get toast and juice and coffee there.
Your commentary is excellent...made me laugh.
LOL..
I wanted to put a cup of coffee beside my post, but decided not to, because like you, I dont drink coffee! haha..
What's on the toast?
Great composition and colors in your photo...you can almost see the crumbs falling off the toast!
Beautiful photo. Do you drink tea perhaps?
I couldn't skip breakfast - would be gnawing the table leg by 9.30 and going out for something bad! Then, I'm usually up at 5.30 for aswim at the gym, and ravenous by 7.
I know lots of cultures don;t make a thing of breakfast - but to me it's still an important healthy start to the day, even if things go downhill after that ;-))
this looks good enough to eat.lol
Looks good. Nothing ON the toast? Honey? Apricot jam?
i love how white the dishes are. and the simple toast looks soooo yummy.
a pretend cup of coffee? what are you hiding?
I like your picture! I think its the best picture today! :o)
You have a nice breakfast. I like your photo of it.
We have never had to eat and run as some do. We always sat around the table at meals and ate together.

What an excellent image.
Thanks for your comments, everyone.
I'm not a cook, so I couldn't do better than toast. I'm lucky I even managed to make that. :)
There's nothing on the toast but some margarine. My preference would have been some peanut butter, but I wasn't sure it would look right in a photo.
Sally, I don't drink tea... never acquired a taste for it. And I love the smell of coffee, I just don't like to drink it.
Gerard, I'm hiding the fact there's nothing actually in that mug. That's why the viewer needs to pretend. :)
I love the cup's reflection on the table! I'm not a breakfast person either, maybe a banana on my way out the door or a piece of toast.
Belle photo, j'aime beaucoup les reflets sur la table
Beautiful photograph, I like much the reflections on the table
Nice picture, like the one in those menu of franchise restaurant.
How simple and elegant...
Celine, I love the wonderful background and reflection for your shot. It makes this very special!

Beautiful photo, great post!
Port Angeles Daily Photo
Bravo!
Mark.
My first thought was "how harsh to only have toast". But then I reflected that I only have oatmeal so there is not a lot of difference ... After that I noticed the quality of your photo ... I really like the reflections ... bravo.
A little jam on the toast, and I'm good to go!
Come on, tell us what you're REALLY hiding inside the cup... we promise not to tell. ;-)
Nice shot!
