The Brown House
Sep 30th
I posted a photo last year of the Historic Charles and Martha Brown House, a historic home on 1st Ave. which is undergoing renovation. I thought it might be interesting to do an updated photo to show the progress on the outside of the home.
For background info on the house, please see the post from last year.
The Strangest TV I Ever Did See
Sep 29th
Although, now that I think about it, it does have about the same entertainment value.
This must be a utility box of some sort, but I’ve never seen one like it before. But then again, I don’t pay a lot of attention to those things. It was in an area where they’re building a bunch of new homes off of Santiam St.

Outstanding In Its Field
Sep 26th
This is a tree. A fairly large tree. It’s standing in a field. The field is part of Neitling Park. Wow.
Sorry. It’s not always easy coming up with captions. I suppose I could make something up. Like the tree is really a space alien come to take over Stayton, and that all the other trees in town are in cahoots, and one day soon we’ll all be woken up by tree roots and limbs creeping and reaching into our houses and taking over our lives, forcing us humans to be their watering and fertilizing minions.
Or maybe I shouldn’t. After all, what if I’m right? What if, at this very moment, the trees in town are reading this and are plotting against me? My yard has a lot of trees in it. I’m literally surrounded. So I’ll just keep quiet. It’s better that way.
A Shy Way About Her (Or Him)
Sep 25th
I spotted this scarecrow decoration hanging out at the Lone Oak Cemetery a couple of days ago. She (or he) was shy at first and would only face away from my camera. It took a bit of coaxing for her (or him) to turn around. As you can see in the photo, she (or he) was still shy about having her (or his) picture taken.
Love Oregon?

This building on 3rd Avenue is decked out for the political holidays, so to speak, for an upcoming ballot measure. I’m not advocating for or against the measure, I just thought the building was cool. It was built in 1912, and is “the only concrete stone building in Stayton retaining original entrys and display windows,” according to the Stayton-Sublimity Chamber of Commerce web site. I don’t know what it’s used for now… looks like storage at the moment.

From The Earth

A string of train cars were parked on the tracks which run alongside Locust St. yesterday. The cars had graffiti marked with a variety of dates and locations, like the one above. I think it’s kinda cool I found this one two years to the day it was created, apparently in or around Minneapolis, Minnesota (visit two Minneapolis daily photo blogs — Minneapolis Daily Photo and Dusty Lens).
