Barely Contained

Barely Contained - a Porsche convertible in Stayton Oregon

This pretty little thing was sitting in the Safeway grocery store parking lot yesterday. It's apparently a Porsche of some variety or other... possibly a 356 from the 1950's, but I'm honestly not sure about that. If anyone out there knows, please leave a comment. Thanks.

Whatever kind of car it is, it's beautiful and I want one.

Hi Celine,

This car is a replica of a 1957 Porsche 356 Speedster. Sometimes referred to as a "kit car".

The body is made of fiberglass and sits more than likely on a VW chassis that has been shorted 10" to fit the Speedster body.

The Speedster originals cost in excess of $100,000 each and the replicas' cost can be built or purchased for 1/3 the cost of the original.

Cheers,

Henry
