What A Teacher Does

What A Teacher Does - a reader board sign in Stayton Oregon

I spotted this reader board sign a couple of weeks ago, and felt it would be a good thing to post just before school starts here on Tuesday. Teachers are simply awesome.

I had to read the sign several times to get it to read right. When I did, finally, it made sense.

I hope you get to see my bird today.

I should have provided the text of it in my post. For anyone else who's confused, the sign reads:

"A teacher takes a hand, opens a mind, and touches a heart."

Abraham, your bird photo is beautiful, as always.

That brings up a couple of happy memories.

My stepfather worked in retail at that very Wilco for years and years. Retired a couple of years back.

Actually, Wilco is part of the background of my life. Growing up in Silverton, as I did, I saw the Wilco Farmers grain elevator on the right hand side of McClaine Street as you left town (and Hwy 213 changed its name to Silverton Rd NE).

It's gone now, sadly. Passing of an era, really.
