merry-go-round 1b

merry-go-round 1b - a dictionary at Stayton Public Library in Stayton Oregon

Today's photo is of a page from a rather large dictionary at the public library. It was helpfully open to a cute little picture of a merry-go-round.

I can't remember the last time I used an actual dictionary, since it's much easier to look things up on dictionary.com. My unabridged dictionary is being used to weigh down a dehumidifier to keep it from squeaking. There's some sort of social commentary in there somewhere, but I don't want to think too hard about it. ;)

That is a cute picture. I always wondered about pics in dictionarys. Isnt the point of the "diction"ary to describe what something means? Isnt putting a picture cheating?

Not only can't I remember the last time I used an actual dictionary, I don't even use dictionary.com

I use Google for both spelling and word meanings. I just type it in and if it is misspelled Google's suggestion is usually the correct one and if it is spelling correctly that usually leads me to the meaning I'm looking for. That works for the most technical of words and phrases as well as the easy stuff I always get wrong. :)

hoodphotography: they do say a picture is worth a thousand words. :)

steve: I use dictionary.com for regular words, and slang I go to urbandictionary.com. Google's for everything else. And I do mean everything. :)
