Falling Down

Falling Down - North Falls at Silver Falls State Park in Oregon

Today's image continues our mini-tour of a few of the waterfalls at Silver Falls State Park (see also: South Falls), which is about 17 miles from Stayton. This is North Falls, taken from an observation point some ways away. It's truly a beautiful setting, with the tall trees surrounding the falls.

Tomorrow I'll post a photo of Upper North Falls. Stay tuned.

P.S. Thanks for the kind comments on yesterday's photo. I very much appreciate it.

That's really lovely. Are you using digital or 35 mm for these shots?

In my opinion there are several things that make this a good image.

First, the setting within the firs. This perspective is striking and different from most waterfall images.

Next, the sharpness and detail visible in the trees. It is crisp and well focused.

Lastly, your choice of high contrast processing makes fine highlights in the trees stand out even more. Looks great in black and white.

Thank you, everyone.

kathryn and ari: it's digital -- a Canon Rebel XT (350D).
