Snow at Detroit Lake

We have another guest photographer today! Theresa Smith sent some beautiful photos she took at Detroit Lake, which is a little over 30 miles up Santiam Canyon from Stayton. It’s a very popular recreation area for people who live here in the Willamette Valley.

Theresa owns D’-Tail Pet Grooming here in Stayton on Washington St.

Stayton is almost completely surrounded by country roads (the exception is the north side where Sublimity is located, not far down the road). There are a lot of scenes like the one above — trees, grass, and clouds. I took this particular shot along Kingston-Jordan Dr., just south of town, over the weekend.
