Born At The Brown House

Yesterday, I attended an open house at the Charles and Martha Brown House, an historic home presently being restored by volunteers. It will eventually be opened to the community to hold events, etc.
I had the privilege of speaking with Mrs. Marlene B Getchell-Knieling, who was born at the house during its tenure as the town's first hospital in the 1930's. She showed me the room where she was delivered by Dr. Brewer in May of 1935, and maternity room where she and her mother stayed after her birth.
Tomorrow I'll be posting photos of the house's interior, as well as some of the folks who worked to help restore the house. Stay tuned.

I thought that was you, Celine.
I was the guy who asked Marlene a few questions about the history of Brown-House-as-hospital just before you took this shot in the former post-natal room. I was also thinking about asking you if you were the "Stayton Daily Photo" person, but when I didn't see a scooter parked outside, I figgered you were a Mail or Our Town staffer doing a feature of some sort.
Anywho, thanks for your blog, Celine; my wife and I get a kick out of it every day!
...and next time I see you around town, I'll definitely say "Hi".
Cheers,

Hi, Eric! Wow, I'm sorry we didn't connect! Feel free to say hello should you see me scooting around town. Sorry you didn't see my scooter... I'd parked it across the street so it could sit on cement and not fall over. :)
