2008 4th Of July Parade

(See more photos!)
I hope those in the United States had a great holiday yesterday. I celebrated by attending the town parade in the afternoon (see above) and fireworks show in the evening. I'll have photos of the fireworks tomorrow.
The theme for the parade was "Freedom Is Not Free." There were a lot of service members and veterans, plus a wide assortment of floats, animals, etc. I've created a Flickr photoset of the event, and I hope you'll stroll through to see some of the sights.

Hey, were you that lady in front of me, blocking all my shots? ;)
Happy 4th of July Celine. (and, I got my videos on before you. Neener neener) ;)
Oh, sure, that was me. I just go wherever anyone has a camera and stand directly in front of them. :)
Cool video! I'll be linking to it in tomorrow's post, if you don't mind. Heck, maybe even if you do. ;)
I don't mind....I'll be linking to yours too (although after seeing your photos, I'll lose my audience)
Pffft, yeah, right. I rather doubt it.
I'm sure your body doesn't twitch and shake as much as mine does. Hard to get clear pictures even at 1/4800th as much as I shake. Let's face it. Your photos totally rock.
I used a tripod for the fireworks, and a remote shutter release -- manual mode set to 'bulb' so I could control the exposure with the remote. No way I'd be able to do that hand held.
The parade I did without a tripod, since it was daytime. And I'm lazy. Too much moving it around, otherwise.
I've got the tripod & bulb, but carrying them all plus 2 cameras and walking with a walker cane over the uneven ground of that parking area had disaster written all over it. As it was, I was amazed I didn't take a header leaving.
I get ya. I am intimately familiar with having to walk with a cane, though for different reasons, I'm sure. What I could see of your photos on the video slideshow, I'd say you did extremely well.
Info on "Lady" on horse in parade. She is from Mulberry Lane Farms, riding a Friesian mare named "Heidie". Friesians were used by Medieval Knights in battle.
Thank you, Anonymous! She looked lovely in the parade.
