Stayton Canal

I've posted pictures of this little power canal between 3rd and 4th Ave. before (here's one, and another, but this time I wanted to try something a little different.
If you have a windows-based computer, you should be able to view a Photosynth I made for the area around the canal. It's kind of like a panorama, but it takes individual photos and displays them in a quasi-3D environment. You will need to install a small plug-in to view the Photosynth. click here to view the it (I tried to use its embed feature, but it didn't display properly).
This was my first time trying this, so it's not perfect. I plan on doing it for other areas around town, as I learn more about how best to do it.

my great great grandfather dug this
canal with a drag bucket and a couple oxen, he needed the water to
power mills. for years the water
from this canal powered the pump
that pulled water out of the city
well. The pump made a wierd wheezing noise as it did it's thing.
Thank you for sharing that wonderful bit of Stayton history. I very much appreciate it.
