Today is the third part of the mini downtown sidewalk tour provided by guest photographer Jon Goodman (see also: part 1 and part 2). Today’s photo marks a sidewalk made in 1912. Jon’s description: Another crumbling memory from the past, this one on Florence St., alongside the old Stayton Hardware building. Thanks, Jon, for this More >

We have another downtown sidewalk photo from guest photographer Jon Goodman (see yesterday’s photo). His description: Another sidewalk shot. About 1910 apparently they were poring a lot of sidewalks downtown and one of the things they did was stencil the street names in the concrete. I’ve been paying more attention on my walks and have More >

Guest photographer sent along a few photos showing some interesting aspects of our very old sidewalks in the downtown area, so I thought I’d run them over the next handful of days. Jon’s description of today’s photo: I’ve been looking a lot at concrete lately, specifically our crumbling downtown sidewalks. Much of it is 100 More >

Here’s a random photo of a random sidewalk on a random part of 3rd Ave. in the historic downtown area of Stayton. I took this between Jensen-Kreitzer and the Friends of the Library Used Book Store.

This is the walkway in front of the Wilco farm supply store on 1st Ave. I almost used this photo for yesterday’s City Daily Photo theme day (the theme was “paths and passages”). I have another photo I’ll post tomorrow which was another possibility for the theme day. No, I don’t know why I named More >

Today’s photo is of a walkway which runs alongside the parking lot at the back of the public elementary school. I took this just before full darkness. By the way, I’d like to thank Ralph Stevens for letting me know the trees in yesterday’s post are flowering cherry trees of the Kwanzan variety. I very More >

“They say the lights are bright on 3rd Avenue…” Yeah, not quite how the song goes. Anyway, I thought the lights in the windows and on the awnings of these stores were pretty. I’ve tried to capture them before, but this is the first time I actually had my tripod along. The store on the More >

There are a lot of trees in Stayton, and as a result there are a lot of autumn leaves scattered all over the place right now. Which means I shall take pictures of them. These particular leaves were on a sidewalk on 2nd Ave., near the Jones Hotel apartment building.
