Looking For Someone To Hold
Dec 31st
Welcome to the last post of 2008! Here we have some trees. Barren trees. Winter trees.
Have a safe and happy new year, everyone. See ya next year.
Note: I made the switch yesterday from Blogger to WordPress — please let me know if anything doesn’t work. I’m still working out the kinks. I’m only vaguely aware of what I’m doing, so I’m bound to have screwed something up.

Life Is A Maze
Dec 28th
The snow is all but gone now (it’s been replaced by a lot of rain), but I still can’t get out and take photos. So here’s another snow shot. Yay.
If anyone out there has Stayton area photos you would like to share, please send them along (site [at] specialweb.com or celine.chamberlin [at] gmail.com). I’d love to post them, especially since I can’t get out to take photos at the moment. You would retain all copyrights to the image(s), and would get full credit. Please feel free to include a title, description, how you’d like your name or username to appear on the site, and if you have a web site you’d like to be linked in the post.
Please see the guest photographers section to see what’s been submitted in the past. Thanks!
Afterthought
Dec 27th
The snow is mostly melted at my house, but that doesn’t mean I can’t post at least one more snow photo. I still haven’t been able to go out and take pictures (it’s been two weeks since I’ve gone anywhere outside of my neighborhood to shoot)… I hope I can rectify that this weekend or early next week. The snow may be going away, but rain is expected for the next several days. We’ll see how it goes.
Rutted
Dec 26th
I discovered a late last night my blog hadn’t updated since the 23rd, so my Christmas Eve and Christmas day posts didn’t get posted like they should have been. Which is a bit of a bummer. I apologize… Blogger’s update thing must have been wacky. They’re up now.
In other news, we had a wee bit of snow yesterday, but not enough to really take photos. So I’m posting one from a few days ago of Fern Ridge Rd. I hope everyone’s holidays went well.
Merry Christmas!
Dec 25th
Ho, ho, and triple ho, it’s Christmas. I hope each of you is having a safe and festive day, whether you celebrate Christmas, another holiday, or absolutely no holiday at all. Be joyous, be merry, be your general spiffy self.
I want to thank all of you who’ve visited over the last 2.5 years, and have made posting a photo every single day (amazingly, I’ve never skipped a day) a great thing to be a part of (don’t let my mother see I’ve ended a sentence in a preposition!).
I especially want to thank one local elf, Dave of StaytonEvents.com, for taking me to the grocery store yesterday morning. Yes, he took time out on Christmas Eve to run me to the store, and then refused to take any money for his gas or time (I tried, believe me). You rock, Dave, and I very much appreciate it.
Merry Christmas, happy holidays, may your days be merry and bright. Be thankful for those around you, and may 2009 be the best year yet.
Merry Christmas Eve!
Dec 24th
Merry Christmas Eve to all who celebrate the day, and to everyone in general — I hope you have a happy day.
I don’t normally post photos of my pets on this blog — I kind of have a rule against it, actually — but desperate times call for desperate measures. I still can’t go anywhere, so I’m stuck at home taking photos. So you’re getting a photo of my dog, Rex. No, I didn’t give him that highly unoriginal name.
He was out romping in the snow yesterday, so I had to take pictures. Live with it. I am.
The other photo is of a neighbor’s chain link fence. It has snow on it. Everything has snow on it at the moment. We’ll definitely be having a white Christmas at my house.
BONUS PHOTOS:
Dave at StaytonEvents.com has posted some beautiful photos of snow at the Bird & Hat Inn. Be sure to give them a look… they are truly lovely.
Frozen Landscape
Dec 23rd
So. It snowed again. And this wasn’t the pretty snow of the other day. This snow was all over the place, and it was icy, and it was incredibly annoying.
I went out for only a few minutes to take photos yesterday. I’m still stuck at home, since my scooter can’t go in snow. I really need to go to the grocery store, but that ain’t happening right now. My brother was supposed to come out from Salem to do it, but it’s been too icy and now his SUV is broken down.
Christmas at my house is probably going to be put on hold, since it’s doubtful any of my family will be able to make it out. I’m ready for the snow to go away now.
Sorry to be such a downer. I know it could be worse, it’s just frustrating. I’ll be less depressing tomorrow.
Better Than Hair Spray
Dec 22nd
Everything just kind of froze yesterday. All the trees and plants had thick layers of ice covering them, and freezing rain kept on falling from the sky.
I had planned on taking a trip to the grocery store yesterday, but didn’t feel like slip sliding all over the roads. Oh, and I should mention the wind which came along and kept threatening to knock out the power. I wrote this yesterday afternoon, just in case it went ahead and did it. Oh, and the hail came along, too. Fun day.
I couldn’t decide which photo to post as the main photo today, so you’re getting bonus photos of ice-encased items. Wow.
This was a heck of a way to ring in the first day of winter yesterday. Next time, I hope Mother Nature just sends a card.
