Oink

I spotted this graffiti of a pig on a mail box at an apartment complex across the street from the public high school on Locust St. the other day. I don’t know why one would choose a pig as a subject, but the curled tail is a nice touch.
I’m not a fan of graffiti, and I’m not trying to encourage people to do it by photographing it. But even though Stayton doesn’t get much graffiti, it is a part of life in town, for better or worse.
Toews Studio & Used Books
Feb 27th
Yesterday, I posted a photo of the windows on the second story above the Paul Toews Art Studio / Friends of the Library Used Book Store on 3rd Ave in downtown Stayton. I figured I should also post a photo of the actual storefront, too. Maybe I should have done that in reverse, now that I think about it. But I’m not prone to thinking ahead, so we’ll just go with what we have and call it good, eh?
Order In Chaos

These windows are on the second story of a building in “historic” downtown Stayton, on 3rd Ave. They’re above the Paul Toews Art Studio / Friends of the Library Used Book Store.
I tried to figure out how old this building is on the Stayton / Sublimity Chamber of Commerce web site, but couldn’t figure out which building it might be. If anyone knows, I’d really appreciate if you’d leave a comment with the info. Thanks!

I’ve posted photos of the neon sign on the Star Cinema movie theater on 3rd Ave., but I adore it, so I’m doing it again. Part of the neon is in need of repair, which isn’t surprising. That sign has been around for many decades, and is in remarkably good shape, considering its age.
Triple Play

I took today’s photo on W. Locust St. looking south across some train tracks into an industrial area of some sort. I have no idea what sort, but I do know I’d love to wander around in there and take pictures. There is a lot of cool stuff behind the fence.
Away Across The Universe

Today’s photo was taken on the corner of W. Washington St. and Larch Ave., looking south. I think it’s part of a power canal which runs through town. If anyone has better info on it, I’d be most appreciative.
I used to live down the street (on Larch Ave.) from this part of the canal (or whatever it is) until I was seven… I vaguely remember we would take our inner tubes and cruise down it.
Nothing’s Gonna Change My World

This is part of Salem Ditch, an irrigation ditch which runs from Stayton to Salem, as seen looking east on 2nd Ave. I’ve probably posted a view of this before. I lose track.
I’ll be posting another view of the ditch tomorrow. At least, I think it’s part of the ditch. I’ll have to look that up before I post it. Anyway, it’s a rather pretty ditch, as far as ditches go.
Rusty Rear

From the truly random file comes today’s photo of the back end of a really rusty truck I found parked on 3rd Ave. the other day. I like rust, and am drawn to it like a moth to a flame.

This footbridge at Pioneer Park spans the creek which runs through the park. It runs parallel to Jordan Bridge, from which I took this photo.
