DP Theme Day: Feet
May 31st
This month’s City Daily Photo theme day is “feet.” I didn’t have the faintest idea what to do for this one, until I was in Postal Connections on Shaff Rd. the other day and noticed all their adorable stuffed animals for sale. They have feet, hence the mosaic above. Lots of furry little feet.
A whole bunch of other City Daily Photo blogs are participating in today’s theme day. Visit the CDP portal to visit them:
Rust In Abstract
May 31st
Guest photographer Jon Goodman sent in today’s photo. Here’s his description:
I love the things rust can do, like turn corrugated metal into an abstract. This is the backside of a shed at the old Stayton Feed site.
Rust is definitely cool. Thanks for the great photo, Jon!

3rd Anniversary!
May 30th
Today is the 3rd Anniversary of Stayton Daily Photo! I had planned on photographing something appropriate to the occasion, but then I kind of forgot. So instead here’s a stuffed eagle toy I found at Postal Connections on Shaff Rd. He’s cute.
I want to thank everyone who’s happened by this blog, for whatever reason. Each and every one of you rock. I honestly never thought I’d make it this long… it’s really kind of shocking, actually. I’m not exactly known for being consistent. I’ve posted a photo every single day for three years. Wow. Cool.
I don’t know what the future will hold. Stayton is a small town, and coming up with new photos every day is a pretty big challenge. I’ve been very thankful to the guest photographers who have bailed me out of jams more than once. I’m also thankful to the City Daily Photo community. Without them, this wouldn’t have been possible. And to Eric at Paris Daily Photo — the guy who started it all — thank you, especially.
Enough of me rambling. Tomorrow I think I’ll be posting a photo from a guest photographer, and on the 1st will be another City Daily Photo monthly theme day. Stay tuned.

These plastic flower vases were near the shed at Lone Oak Cemetery when I stopped the other day to take a photo for Memorial Day. These vases are used to put flowers in so folks can place them on graves.
I think I may have posted a photo of them before, come to think of it. I’m not sure.

Today is the US holiday Memorial Day (read the Wikipedia entry to find out what it entails). I stopped by Lone Oak Cemetery, which is on the corner of 3rd Ave. and Fern Ridge Rd., yesterday to take this photo. A Stayton (our town was named for Drury Smith Stayton) family tombstone sits in the background.

There is currently a beautiful group of clematis flowers blooming along a fence at the south end of town, between 3rd and 4th Ave., on E. Water St. It was pretty windy when I was there on Thursday, so getting photos of the darned things was difficult. Here’s one of the only ones which was actually in focus.
