DP Theme Day: Feet

Sunday, May 31st, 2009

This month’s City Daily Photo theme day is “feet.” I didn’t have the faintest idea what to do for this one, until I was in Postal Connections on Shaff Rd. the other day and noticed all their adorable stuffed animals for sale. They have feet, hence the mosaic above. Lots of furry little feet.
A whole [...]

Rust In Abstract

Sunday, May 31st, 2009

Guest photographer Jon Goodman sent in today’s photo. Here’s his description:
I love the things rust can do, like turn corrugated metal into an abstract. This is the backside of a shed at the old Stayton Feed site.
Rust is definitely cool. Thanks for the great photo, Jon!

3rd Anniversary!

Saturday, May 30th, 2009

Today is the 3rd Anniversary of Stayton Daily Photo! I had planned on photographing something appropriate to the occasion, but then I kind of forgot. So instead here’s a stuffed eagle toy I found at Postal Connections on Shaff Rd. He’s cute.
I want to thank everyone who’s happened by this blog, for whatever reason. Each [...]

Canopy

Friday, May 29th, 2009

This tree lives just off of 3rd Ave. (it might be on E. Fir St., but maybe not). There are actually three or four of them in a row, which makes me happy. I hate to think of it being alone. As usual, I have no idea what kind of tree it is.

Jumbled

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

These plastic flower vases were near the shed at Lone Oak Cemetery when I stopped the other day to take a photo for Memorial Day. These vases are used to put flowers in so folks can place them on graves.
I think I may have posted a photo of them before, come to think of it. [...]

Fade To Black

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

I took this sunset shot a few nights ago from the corner of Fern Ridge Rd. and 3rd Ave. I can’t resist a good sunset.

Purple & Pink

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

There are a couple of big planters in front of City Hall on 3rd Ave., and one is filled with these lovely petunias. Ooh, I think it’s time for some alliteration…
Purple and pink petunias perpetually promise precious prettiness.
Okay, I’m through. I just had to get it out of my system. For now.

Remembering

Monday, May 25th, 2009

Today is the US holiday Memorial Day (read the Wikipedia entry to find out what it entails). I stopped by Lone Oak Cemetery, which is on the corner of 3rd Ave. and Fern Ridge Rd., yesterday to take this photo. A Stayton (our town was named for Drury Smith Stayton) family tombstone sits in the [...]

A Fine Mess

Sunday, May 24th, 2009

Today’s photo is of a macro of a random red flower found at the edge of Pioneer Park. Yay.
Sorry about the run of flower photos. I’m just happy flowers are blooming again, so I’m kind of focused on them at the moment.

Baring It All

Saturday, May 23rd, 2009

There is currently a beautiful group of clematis flowers blooming along a fence at the south end of town, between 3rd and 4th Ave., on E. Water St. It was pretty windy when I was there on Thursday, so getting photos of the darned things was difficult. Here’s one of the only ones which was [...]

Unabashed

Friday, May 22nd, 2009

This bright yellow tree (or bush, or whatever) lives at the dead end of of E. Pine St., right by the pump station. I haven’t a clue what kind of tree it is, but it’s beautiful.

Beyond The Horizon

Thursday, May 21st, 2009

I posted a sunset photo a couple of days ago, and figured I’d post one more I took that night. The sky was just too pretty to ignore.

Old Pipe

Wednesday, May 20th, 2009

New guest photographer Jon Goodman sent this photo of old city pipe he found somewhere in downtown Stayton. As he says, “Not much ‘old’ Stayton exists anymore but there are a few little details that remain if you look hard enough.” Thanks for your submission, Jon!

Sun Shines

Tuesday, May 19th, 2009

I actually got outside for a few minutes yesterday evening, so I went to a hill on Boedigheimer Rd SE, just outside of city limits (across Highway 22) to take a few sunset photos. The sky was clouding up, so it made the sky extra pretty. I may post another shot of the sunset later [...]

Hogging The Spotlight

Monday, May 18th, 2009

We had a beautiful weekend, the kind perfect for going outside and taking pictures. Not that I was out in it, of course. Real life happened, instead. Good stuff, but still… no new photos.
So today’s photo is a flower from a hanging geranium plant I bought my mother for her birthday, which was yesterday. I’ll [...]
