Thunder In The Theater

Last night a benefit concert was held at the Star Cinema for Ken Cartwright, in order to help pay for some medical bills associated with some recent health problems. Ken, for those who don’t know, has done quite a lot for the Stayton area community, including organizing free concerts, running a community-based radio station, and many other things. It was great to see the community give something back to someone who has given so much.
The concert was hosted by local artist Paul Toews, and singer/comedian Joe Stoddard and the bluegrass band Old Circle performed. Stoddard did a variety of music, and did humorous impersonations of several artists, including Elvis and John Denver. Old Circle featured a 15-year-old young lady named Amy Hakanson on the fiddle who was more than kept up with musicians who’d been playing longer than she’s been alive.
I’ve uploaded several photos from the concert (with descriptions) to a Flickr photoset. I hope you’ll have a look.
As of this writing, there is information on how to donate to Ken and more info about the concert on the Star Cinema’s web site.

Ken, it really was great to see so many people show up to support you. I can’t think of anyone more deserving. Take care.
