Yesterday was the 2009 Santiam SummerFest in downtown Stayton. I took a fair amount of photos, so I thought I’d spread things out over the next few days.
First up: bed races. Three teams showed up with rather cool bed racers and competed on a side street at the SummerFest. [...]
There’s a house down by Pioneer Park which has these sunflowers at the edge of their yard every year, so every year I try to make sure I get some photos of them. They also have black-eyed susans… I’ll probably post a photo of them next week.

Today’s photo is a not quite ripe Queen Anne’s Lace flower, macro style, I found growing wild by the side of a road. It looks kinda cool, with its dots all pointing in the same general direction.
There is a row of rose bushes alongside the parking lot at the Community Center, which is where I took today’s photo. The black background came about in post processing, when I increased the contrast to bring out the flower. The parking lot really isn’t a black void with random roses in it.
I spotted this SUV with a couple of kayaks on them in the parking lot of the community pool on Saturday. I’ve never been kayaking, but it would be a great way to take in some of the gorgeous scenery Oregon rivers have to offer.
Yesterday the Stayton Friends Of The Library (FOL) had a book sale in the parking lot at the Community Center. The FOL needed to empty their book storage container (the blue container seen at the right side of the photo) in order to move it, so they had dozens of boxes of books set [...]
I actually managed to go out for a few minutes yesterday before it got too hot, and this was the result. Not much, but it’s something. These were growing wild in a parking strip near the hospital on 10th Ave.
Building on the excitement (or lack thereof) of yesterday’s field grass-oriented post, here’s a shot of a flower from that same field. It’s Queen Anne’s Lace, for those who care about such things.
