Corn Festival Car Show

Monday, August 31st, 2009

Today’s photos are more from Guest photographer Debbie D. Dodd, taken at the Boy Scout sponsored car show at the Aumsville Corn Festival, held over the weekend (see also: yesterday’s photo from the Corn Festival parade). Below are more photos from the car show. Click on each thumbnail to see a larger version.
Note: tomorrow I’ll [...]

Corn Festival Parade

Sunday, August 30th, 2009

Guest photographer Debbie D. Dodd has sent along several photos, most of which are from the Aumsville Corn Festival, which is being held this weekend. I’ll be posting Debbie’s photos as the week goes on.
Today’s photo is from the parade. Debbie added a nifty art effect to the photo. Pretty cool.
For those outside the [...]

Don’t Look Now

Saturday, August 29th, 2009

This window is on a shed behind the Post Office on 2nd Ave. It doesn’t seem to have much of a view, what with the boarded up window.

Control Panel

Friday, August 28th, 2009

A rather large and intimidating Honda Goldwing parked next to my scooter the other day. I didn’t get a shot of the whole bike (there was no good angle from which to do it). I did, however, find myself fascinated by all the buttons and gauges on the dash (is it called a dash on [...]

I Found My Home

Thursday, August 27th, 2009

Today’s photo is another rose from next to the parking lot at the Community Center. It has a little bug of some sort on it. It’s a bug on a flower. Woot.
On another note, the Oregon State Fair starts tomorrow. If anyone out there will be attending and wants to take a picture or two [...]

Al Erations Laundry And L Ather

Wednesday, August 26th, 2009

This reader board at Stayton Cleaners on Washington St. made me chuckle. I can’t decide if two guys named Al Erations and L. Ather are asking for folks’ laundry, or if ol’ Al wants to lather someone’s laundry all by himself.
For the curious, the two missing letters on the sign are ‘t’ and ‘e’.

Twuck

Tuesday, August 25th, 2009

This truck — not sure if it’s a dump truck or some other type — was going down the road a few days ago, so I took a picture. I can’t remember what road it was, not that it matters. It’s a truck, on a road. The end.

Countdown

Monday, August 24th, 2009

These mail boxes live on Regis St., near where it meets 1st Ave. I think they’re nifty.

Mental Cases

Sunday, August 23rd, 2009

How about a random bit of train car graffiti for today? The train is still hanging around down at the industrial area of town every time I go by. Not good, since it obviously doesn’t have much else to do. It should be hauling something somewhere.
If you’re having trouble reading what it says, it reads: [...]

Spenner Road

Saturday, August 22nd, 2009

Spenner Road is just outside of Stayton, off of Boedigheimer Rd. I took this by setting the camera on the gravel and pressing the shutter. That is what makes me the super duper fantastic brilliantly creative photographer I am. In my dreams. I wish I’d angled it a bit differently, but them’s the breaks.
I didn’t [...]

Lost In Translation

Friday, August 21st, 2009

Today’s photo is of the parking lot side of the Red Apple Chinese restaurant on 2nd Ave., next to the Post Office. I have no clue what the characters say, if anything. Maybe it’s the name of the restaurant. Dunno. I can’t just copy and paste it into Google Translate, so I’m a little lost. [...]

Getting A Facelift

Thursday, August 20th, 2009

The Church of the Nazarene on Washington is getting a new facade. I posted a photo of the front in May of last year, and they’re making changes to area over the porch and front windows. I wonder how far the renovation will go.

Tracy Reynolds In Concert

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009

(See my Flickr photoset of this concert!)
Last night was the final concert in the summer concert series put on by Ken Cartwright of KENC Community Radio and Cartwright’s Music Repair Shop, and sponsored by Monte’s Coins & More and the Stayton Parks and Recreation department.
Singer Tracy Reynolds performed several of her songs of her CD [...]

The Raging Mill Creek

Tuesday, August 18th, 2009

Mill Creek where it crosses under Boedigheimer Rd. just outside of Stayton is never exactly big, but right now, the water level is so low, it almost doesn’t exist. That seems to be the case all around Oregon at the moment. In fact, I wouldn’t have guessed this was Mill Creek if there hadn’t been [...]

The Test Of Time

Monday, August 17th, 2009

I took a picture of this oak tree on Boedigheimer Rd. back in April, before it had filled back in with leaves. It’s a nifty twisty old tree, so it was cool to go back and see it again in a different season. I didn’t give today’s photo the dramatic processing like I did the [...]
