DP Theme Day: Waiting
Monday, November 30th, 2009Today is this month’s City Daily Photo theme day, with the theme “Waiting.” I felt a photo of a Salvation Army bell ringer to be appropriate for the theme, since these volunteers ring their bells and wait for donations, often in the cold, as it was yesterday when I took this photo. Check out the nifty furry hat the volunteer, John Rydholm, is wearing.
John graciously allowed me to take his photo at Bi-Mart on Shaff Rd. Thanks for agreeing to the photo, and for volunteering your time. You rock.
For those unfamiliar with the Salvation Army, please visit their web site to find out more information. And maybe the next time you see one of those iconic red kettles, you’ll drop some money in. It’s for a good cause.

this is a great choice for theme day and a good reminder to all of us to give as this is a tough year for so many.
Yes, I guess there are far too many people out there waiting to see where their next meal is goinjg to come from. Thank you for helping us all to see that we can do more for those who are less fortunate than we are, especially the children.
Good thought for our Theme Day.
Oh this is a lovely choice for today. So right these guys just wait for money from us. A kind and thoughtful choice and lovely photo of this kindly man.
Oh, these wonderful volunteers who are patiently WAITING for our generosity! They brave the cold and boredom to help make a difference in this world, that too often can be cruel to those with little luxuries in life. Bless them!
Great idea for the theme of waiting! I hope his waiting was rewarded with a full pail of money at the end of his shift.
3 “people pictures” in less than a week?!? I’m shocked, Celine. (I’m counting the person walking their dog on Sunday’s picture).
I like seeing people. Stayton is a place…but, much more than that…it’s people. I can tell you from having lived in Stayton, that the people there make that town great. Looking forward to more!
“Amicule, deliciae, num is sum qui mentiar tibi?”
(For the non-Latin-speaking crowd)
Amicule, deliciae, num is sum qui mentiar tibi?
(Baby, Sweetheart, would I lie to you?)
Thanks for the comments, all. Kate, you’ve captured what I was trying to say beautifully.
Hugo, it’s true I should get more people in my photos. Most of the time when I go out with my camera, I have errands to run or I’m not feeling well enough to stay out for very long, so I usually have to take what I can get. But I am making an effort.
