The weather ’round these parts went kind of wacky. The Portland area saw a fair bit of snow, but at my house here in Stayton we saw a couple minutes of light flakes and then we were through. That’s boring, though, so today I’m posting a photo my brother took with his cell/mobile phone in [...]
The other day, after I lamented not being able to post Christmas-related photos until next December, Hugo commented the Jordan Bridge, a covered bridge at Pioneer Park, is always waiting for me. That inspired me to go take a picture of my favorite Stayton landmark and most frequent photo subject.
Thanks for the awesome suggestion, Hugo. [...]
I spotted this old truck next to Dale’s Auto Body on Washington St. a couple of days ago. It looks like it’s seen a lot of time outside.
The sun created some nifty shadows in the parking lot at the A&W Restaurant on Washington St. yesterday. The pavement was kind of frosty due to the cold, moist air, which also made for an interesting texture on the ground.
Note: I changed the permalink structure on the blog. I don’t think it will break any [...]
Okay, so yesterday I kinda lied. I said I wasn’t going to post any Christmas-related photos until next December. I was so wrong.
Today’s photo is a detail macro of a Christmas decoration, but it doesn’t really look like it’s a Christmas decoration, so I figured why the heck not. It’s Christmas as I write this, [...]
I hope everyone is having a great day today, whether you celebrate Christmas or are just enjoying the start of the weekend. Take care, all, and stay safe out there.
Meanwhile, I’ll be in mourning because I won’t be able to post anymore Christmas-oriented photos until next December.
Merry Christmas Eve, to all who celebrate the day. I spotted this lighted Christmas decoration along Ida St., and thought it would be fitting to post today.
This is adorable — someone actually put a boat in their front yard as part of their holiday display. Frosty the Snowman has a fishing pole and presents loaded in the boat. I love it. Makes me want to buy a boat so I can copy it.
I spotted this just off of 3rd Ave.
It’s the latest in North Pole fashion, don’t ya know. Santa always tries to stay up on all the latest trends.
I spotted this on the window of a convenience store on 1st Ave.
These photos are from a lovely little window display at Harold’s Jewelers on 3rd Ave.
I want to thank the folks who walked by while I was taking photos for not thinking I was robbing the place. Which would be stupid of me, anyway, since Harold’s is right across the street from the police station. Not [...]
This somewhat craptacular photo is of Stayton’s Christmas tree on 3rd Ave. It’s a pretty little thing, I have to say. The tree, not the photo. I might have mentioned the photo is craptacular. Click on it to see it in greater splotchy detail.
I’m happy it’s not a leaner like last year’s tree, although that [...]
Christmas is now less than a week away, Hanukkah is wrapping up, and 2009 is almost over. I think part of me is stll trying to adjust to the world being in the 2000’s, let along 9 years in.
Anyway, this photo was taken of the front of a festive looking apartment building, once known as [...]
And I have to say, it’s not looking so good for you.
The weather hasn’t exactly been conducive to doing anything other than staying inside to avoid (last week) freezing one’s backside off or (this week) rain, rain, and more rain. So a random macro photo of a Santa Claus Christmas decoration it is. [...]
I took the opportunity to snap a photo of Stayton Fire District’s fire chief, Jack Carriger, a couple of weeks ago at the 2009 Santa Cruise. I am huge fan of firefighters, since both of my brothers were volunteers at the department, and the department saved my house last year after it was set on [...]
