Guest photographer John Brandt has been documenting the start of foot bridge connecting most of Stayton to the new park along the Santiam River. It’s due to be completed here very soon. The above photo shows cement poured into the moldings which will form the base of one side of the bridge. For more photos More >

Guest photographer John Brandt took today’s photo of a dead tree (or part of a tree) in Wilderness Park he doesn’t expect to survive another winter. I haven’t been through that park in some time. I really need to do it again very soon. Once the temperature cools down a bit, that is.

For this month’s City Daily Photo theme day — passageway — I did what I normally do, which is forget completely about it and then take a photo on the last possible day. At least I’m consistent. This photo was taken at the entrance to the main forest pathway at Wilderness Park. It’s the first More >

Guest photographer John Brandt sent in today’s photo of some volunteers building horseshoe pits at Neitling Park, which resides next to Pioneer Park. I had no idea this was taking place, so it’s extra cool of John to send the photos in. This photo shows Stayton Park Board Chair Vietske building the horeshoe pits. For More >

Guest photographer John Brandt sent in today’s photo of a building here in Stayton I’d never seen before. It’s a quonset hut (follow the link for more info). John asked local nifty person Kay Pendelton about the building’s history (she’s works with the Santiam Heritage Foundation), and she had this to say: That quanset hut More >
