Rumours Lounge
Aug 17th
This Rumours Restaurant & Lounge building always intrigues me… it has lots of lighted signs to look at (click here for more photos I’ve taken of Rumours). I don’t think I’d ever noticed this little sign on the side of the building before, but I liked the contrast with the black of the building and the light-colored door. I couldn’t quite get the detail of the sign right, since the lights inside it distort the lettering.
Day Trippin’
Jun 16th
I took this photo a couple of weekends ago. The guy on the motorcycle in front was very kind to wave at the camera.
This photo was taken on the bridge which spans the Santiam River, just past the southern city limits. I’m not sure if it’s technically 1st Ave. or Stayton-Scio Rd. at that point. I know it’s right where Marion County meets Linn County, since one of the signs is in the photo. Very helpful, that.
Flower Girl
Jun 15th
There were several people watching the Burn To Learn on Sunday, including several children who picked some wildflowers from the field across the street from the house the fire fighters burned down. It’s nice to see kids enjoying such simple things, without the need for video games, TV, etc.
Not that I’m one to talk. I’m sitting here at my computer, with my cell phone, digital camera, etc., sitting next to me. I think I’ll just shut up now.
DP Theme Day: Statues
May 1st
Today is this month’s City Daily Photo theme day: statues. As usual, I completely forgot about it until yesterday evening, so I trudged out in a light rain and took this photo of a Madonna statue on the grounds of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on 6th Ave.
The statue wasn’t lit when I was there (10:30pm), so this is a 56 second exposure to compensate for the lack of light. I chose this particular statue for the simple fact I couldn’t think of any others in town. And it was 10:30pm, so I couldn’t exactly go tootling around town to try to find others. That was the biggest factor of all, really. Did I mention it was raining?
A whole bunch of other City Daily Photo bloggers are participating in today’s theme day. Click on the link below to check ‘em out:
Black & White
Mar 29th
This white bench sits outside Rumours Lounge on 3rd Ave. I liked the contrast of it against the black wall.
I would like it be duly noted I have managed to go almost a week without posting a flower photo. It hasn’t been easy on my part, and I will likely crumble and post one tomorrow. You have been warned.
I would also like to note I’m changing the update times on my posts. I have been posting at midnight (Pacific time), but I think posting a bit later might be better. Less likely to get lost in the middle of the night, I hope. How does 5am (Pacific) work for you?
Sometimes It Just Is
Feb 2nd
I took this off the end of E. Jefferson St., looking east. I had thought about posting it for yesterday’s theme day, but went with something else instead. So today we have trees. In a field. In black and white. And a description with sentence fragments. Exciting.
