The Oregon Valley Boys In Concert
Aug 20th
(Click here to see my Flickr photoset from the concert!)
Last night was the second of two free summer concerts held at Pioneer Park, this time featuring The Oregon Valley Boys, an Oregon-based western swing band. As usual, I took a bunch of photos and posted a good chuck of them to a Flickr photoset, so head on over there if you’re so inclined. The band was great, with songs referencing local locations such as Howell Prairie Rd. (an extremely long road which runs between Aumsville and Woodburn, if I’m reading Google Maps right), and the town of Molalla.
Be sure to visit The Oregon Valley Boys web site.
Note: the band was backlit by the sun, so I apologize for any poorly lit photos.
2010 Santiam Summerfest – Victorian Fashion Show
Aug 19th
New guest photographer Chris sent in today’s photos of something I completely missed at the 2010 Santiam Summerfest, held at the end of last month: a Victorian fashion show. Very cool! I’m sorry I missed seeing it in person. Click on the thumbnails below to see more photos from the event:
Thanks, Chris!
2010 Santiam Summerfest
Aug 3rd
(See my Flickr photoset from the Summerfest!)
Here are the rest of the photos I took at the Santiam Summerfest (see also: the car show and bed races), held on Saturday in downtown Stayton. There was a nice turnout, with lots to see and do.
Be sure to visit my Flickr photoset, which has several photos of the various sights and people, 3 on 3 basketball, and local band Garage Band Blues.
2010 Santiam Summerfest Bed Races
Aug 2nd
(See my Flickr photoset from the bed races!)
The bed races at the Santiam Summerfest on Saturday were fun. A lot of folks stopped to watch, the various teams seemed to have a good time, and there were a lot of smiles on a lot of faces.
I posted entirely too many photos from the bed races over at Flickr. They’re in chronological order. I discovered after everything was all over that my lens had smudges on it, so forgive the bits of blurriness.
Dave over at StaytonEvents.com has the results, which is good, because I forgot to write that down. Ken Cartwright was there filming the event, so hopefully that will show up soon over on his community radio and video site.
DP Theme Day: Bright Colors / 2010 Santiam Summerfest Car Show
Aug 1st
(Click here to see my Flickr photoset from the car show!)
Yesterday was the 2010 Santiam Summerfest street festival and car show, held in downtown Stayton, and today is the August 1st City Daily Photo theme day (bright colors), so I’m combining the two.
Colorful cars abounded at the car show, where there were waaaay too many cars for me to photograph. I gave it a shot, though. If you want to see the cars in greater detail, head on over to my Flickr photoset. Most of the photos are up (a few got lost in the uploading, and I need to figure out which ones).
Tomorrow be posting photos from the bed races, and after that, I’ll post photos from the street festival itself. Stay tuned.
Oh, and “hi” to all the folks I ran into yesterday.

Stro’s Wedneday Nite Cruise-In
Jun 17th
(Click here to see my Flickr photoset of the car show!)
Last night was one of the twice-monthly Stro’s Wedneday Nite Cruise-In car shows held at the A&W Restaurant on Washington St. I took various photos of various things on various cars, so if you’re feeling variable (no, I don’t know why I wrote that), check out the photos on the Flickr photoset I created. The are twenty-something of them.
One of the photos shows a beautiful black 1966 Thunderbird, which is owned by the guy who owns the A&W. I didn’t get his name because I am an idiot, but he’s a very nice person.
Burn To Learn
Jun 14th
(See my Flickr photoset from the the Burn To Learn!)
Yesterday, the Stayton Fire District held a Burn To Learn fire training exercise on a house at the corner of 10th Ave. and Santiam St. The awesome Theresa Smith of D-Tail Pet Grooming tipped me off yesterday morning. Thanks, Theresa!
The Burn To Learn took several hours to set up and complete. Many fire fighters and trucks were on hand from various area fire departments. I had never seen a Burn To Learn in person, and it was really quite fascinating to watch the fire fighters do what they do, especially in those heavy turnouts they wear. I was boiling sitting across the street from the fire… I can’t imagine how hot they were in their uniforms.
I’ve posted over 80 photos in a Flickr photoset, if you’re interested. They’re in sequential order, so the actual burning starts on page two of the set.
My Niece’s High School Graduation
Jun 12th
Today’s photo is a personal indulgence, so please forgive me. My niece, Brittany, graduated from Sprague High School in nearby Salem last night, and since I’m a proud aunt, y’all are getting a photo of her. But she’s cute, so it’s okay.
If you have the burning desire to see more of the photos I took at the graduation ceremony, visit my Flickr photoset. Be warned — there are several of my niece first, and then some of the rest of the event.
2010 Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival – Part 5
Apr 30th
(See my Flickr photoset from the festival!)
Today is the final installment of photos from my trip to the Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival on Sunday (see also: part 1, part 2, part 3, and part 4). I took this photo from a stand they had set up… I tried my darnedest to get an overall shot of the fields, but there was just too much ground to cover. It didn’t occur to me to try taking multiple shots to form a panorama. Fudge.
I’ve added more photos to my Flickr photoset of the event, but I still have several more to add. Check back at that link over the next few days, if you’re so inclined.
2010 Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival – Part 3
Apr 28th
(See my Flickr photoset for this event!)
Today is another part of my trip to the Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival near Woodburn (see also: part 1 and part 2). I finally started a Flickr photoset for my photos from the festival, but it’s nowhere near complete. I have somewhere around 60 to 70 photos to upload.
I think I’ll post another photo from the festival tomorrow… not sure if I’ll do another after that. The whether has been rainy the last couple of days, so I haven’t been out to take new photos.
