Patriot, Through And Through
Jul 17th
Frequent guest photographer Patrick is a really nice guy. He’s been helping me by finding cool photos he’s taken while real life has been keeping me busy. I really appreciate that.
His latest offering is one he took during the Independence Day parade earlier this month. His description:
In an attempt to help you get through your busy time, I went looking to see if I might be able to help you keep your daily quest. You pretty much covered the 4th of July parade, yet I did get this picture of a gentleman sitting in a chair on the sidewalk.
The photo, and the tattoo, really says all there is to say. Thanks, Patrick.
2010 Independence Day Parade
Jul 6th
(Click here to see my Flickr photoset of the parade!)
As promised yesterday, here are the photos I took at the Independence Day parade on Sunday. I posted entirely too many photos to a Flickr photoset. There are over one hundred of them. And that’s after I went through them twice to reduce the number.
If you or someone you know were in the parade, you very well might find a photo of you/them, so go have a look. I didn’t get everyone’s photos, but I made an effort to get as many as I could.
2010 Independence Day Fireworks Show
Jul 5th
(See my Flickr photoset of the fireworks!)
Last night I attended the fireworks show held at the Stayton Middle School, and I took a whole big bunch of photos. Check them out in my Flickr photoset, which has over 50 images. Be sure to “oooh” and “aaah” while you look at them, because that is what is required when one looks at fireworks. It’s just how it’s done. Be sure to imagine big booming sounds, while you’re at it. It will help with the atmosphere.
I’ll be posting photos from the Stayton Independence Day parade tomorrow. Stay tuned.
Remembering on Memorial Day
May 31st
Today is Memorial Day in the United States (see the Wikipedia entry for this holiday). The City put out several U.S. flags along 3rd Ave. in honor of the day and what it means. I took this photo in front of City Hall.
This holiday is technically intended to honor those who have died while in military service, but it’s taken on a broader meaning. So, today, no matter where you are, I hope you’ll take a few moments to remember those who have come before us, loved ones who have passed on, and military service members who gave the ultimate sacrifice in defense of their country.
Merry Christmas!
