Doorway To Worship

Doorway To Worship - the Church of the Nazarene in Stayton Oregon

This is the front of the Church of the Nazarene on Washington St. It's a cute little church... the epitome of a little white church, in my opinion. I've posted a side view photo of it before.

As someone named Gecko pointed out in a comment on the other photo, the church was once the Baptist church before it moved to another location.

In other news, StaytonEvents.com has posted an article from the fire department about the recent suspicious house fires here in town. If you live in the area, please read it and keep an eye out. My own home was one of the ones hit (read more about that night here). Thanks.

New Life Foursquare Church

New Life Foursquare Church in Stayton Oregon

I think this is the only Stayton church I have left to post to complete the series. I could be wrong, but I can't think of any others in town.

I'm not familiar with this church, and the closest to a web page for it is their listing on foursquare.org. It appears the church had its own web site at one time, but the link no longer works.

This building started out as a department store back in the 1980's called Faulks (I could off on the spelling). My sister worked there, and it served to feed her clothing addiction for some time.

Salem First United Methodist Church

Salem First United Methodist Church in Salem Oregon

Feeling Inspired - the steeple of the Salem First United Methodist Church in Salem OregonIt's day four of our mini-tour of nearby Salem. Today's photo is of the church where both my maternal grandparents and aunt and uncle both were married many years ago.

My grandparents married there in the 1920's. My aunt and uncle married there in the 1950's, on my grandparents' 25th wedding anniversary. I wasn't able to go inside the day I was there. Maybe someday.

For more information about the church vist their web site.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints - The Mormon church in Stayton Oregon

A while back I started taking photos of the various churches in Stayton. And then I forgot. But I'm back again with another photo. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is on Western Ave. in the West Town area of Stayton.

I apologize for the lackluster photo. It was raining, and I was having a difficult time keeping water drops off the lens. It's been raining a lot lately.

Stayton Church Of Christ

Stayton Church Of Christ in Stayton Oregon

Today's photo is of the Church of Christ on E. Washington St. I posted a nighttime shot of the cross last year but hadn't gotten a photo of the whole building. Well, this isn't quite all of it, but it's pretty close.

The right-hand side of the building houses the Stayton Christian School.

Church And Cross

Church And Cross - The Church of the Nazarene in Stayton Oregon

This is part of the Church of the Nazarene on E. Washington St. I posted a photo of the entire building last July, but as I was passing by over the weekend and saw this setting, I couldn't help but stop and take some photos of it again.

New Hope Community Church

New Hope Community Church in Stayton Oregon

Today brings a new entry in my effort to photograph the various churches in Stayton. I have most of them posted... after this I think I have one more to do.

The church above resides on 2nd Ave. Other than that, I know virtually nothing about it. If anyone out there has any information about it, please leave a comment. Thanks. :)

Seventh-Day Adventist Church

Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Stayton Oregon

Today's photo is of the Seventh-Day Adventist church on Fern Ridge Rd. This is about a block away from the Calvary Lutheran Church I posted yesterday, and a few blocks down the road from two other churches, all along Fern Ridge Rd.

Church Bell

Church Bell at the United Methodist Church in Stayton Oregon

This is the recently reinstated church bell at the United Methodist Church on Fern Ridge Rd. It used to be at the church, then it wasn't, and now it is again.

The ridged thing in the foreground is part of the church's roof. It has a nifty pattern to it, in my opinion.

Foothills Church

Foothills Church in Stayton Oregon

The non-denominational Foothills Church resides on Fern Ridge Rd. It's one of four churches all on that part of Fern Ridge Rd., all of different denominations.

That stretch also has a cemetery, mortuary, and hospital either on the road or right near. I like to think of it as one stop shopping of the living and dying sort. But, then again, I'm not exactly right in the head. ;)

Immaculate Conception Church

Immaculate Conception Church

The Immaculate Conception Church sits across the street from St. Mary's catholic grade school on 6th Ave. It has a lovely stained glass window on the front, of which I posted a photo back in July.

Stayton has several churches, and I keep meaning to take pictures of all of them. For now, you can view the church photos I've already taken.

Church of Christ

A sign on the Church of Christ in Stayton Oregon

I finally remembered to take my tripod with me last night when I decided to take a few night shots. I know, you're very impressed.

The above sign is from the Church of Christ on Washington St. in Stayton. I love how it is backlit, casting the light around the sign. It's a lovely effect. If you click on the photo to view it full size, you can see the light play on the stonework of the building.

Methodist Church

Oregon

The above is the United Methodist Church on Fern Ridge Rd. in Stayton. It recently underwent an extensive renovation, including the reinstallation of the bell tower (click here to see a close up of the tower).

The bell once hung at the church, but had been in storage for several years. It was put back up during the renovation.

As a point of interest, Fern Ridge Rd. is home to four churches, despite being a pretty short road. It also has a cemetery (and mortuary right around the corner), and is about a block away from the town hospital. So you can get born, get churched (in one or more of four different religions!), and get dead and buried all in one handy dandy location.

Church of the Nazarene

Church of Nazarene - Stayton Oregon

This is the Church of the Nazarene in Stayton, located on E. Washington St. I couldn't find anything in the way of history by searching the web. Sorry. I thought about making something up, but that just seems extra wrong, what with it being a church and all.

I've only been in the basement of the building, for a yard sale kinda thing. I remember buying several books, and I think a power cord for a dryer. I really don't know why I bought that.

Okay, maybe I do. See, I had a brief yet intense addiction to yard sales during that time period, which led to me buying several books I have yet to read. Who knows if I ever will. I also bought other random things I very likely will never use. I had to quit yard sales cold turkey, and it's still difficult passing by a yard sale without stopping. But it's really better this way.
