The End Is Nigh

The End Is Nigh - a walkway at Stayton Elementary School in Stayton Oregon

Today's photo is of a walkway which runs alongside the parking lot at the back of the public elementary school. I took this just before full darkness.

By the way, I'd like to thank Ralph Stevens for letting me know the trees in yesterday's post are flowering cherry trees of the Kwanzan variety. I very much appreciate the info, as I obviously was pretty clueless on the matter.

Regis High School

Regis High School in Stayton Oregon

Behind these trees is part of Regis Catholic High School on Regis St. This is looking at it from across part of a large field next to the school, part of which is used for
little league baseball.

This road is one of my favorite places to take photos of clouds, because it's so open.

Night School

Night School - Stayton Elementary School in Stayton Oregon

Today's photo is a night shot of part of the public elementary school. The window-oriented part houses classrooms, while the part on the left leads to the office.

I took the photo from the school's parking lot. Back when I went to school there, that area was part of a playground, but more kids meant a need for an actual parking lot, which it didn't really have before. The rest of the playground was expanded on the other side of the building.

By the way, Stayton Daily Photo is perilously close to its 300th post. I think it will be next Friday, if I've counted right. Thanks to all who visit and make it worth doing every day.

Rack 'em up

Bike racks - Stayton Oregon - Stayton Elementary School

These are some very lonely bike racks from the elementary school in Stayton. School's out, children and their bicycles are elsewhere, and here these bike racks sit, unused, unwanted... unloved.

But, still, they wait patiently for the next school year, for the bustling activity that it will bring. Mostly, thought, they await that one thing which brings them joy: bicycles once again being entrusted to their care. They will do their duty with vigilance, with determination. They will stand tall... well, okay, they'll stand short, but stand they will. Fear not, bicycle riders, for these bike racks have got your back. Or at least your bicycles.

I might also mention the racks and their shadows look like bent paper clips. Then again, I might not.

To be kind, to care... to believe

Stayton Elementary School mural - Oregon

This is part of a mural on the elementary school grounds in Stayton. It's part of a small amphitheater, with the various parts of the mural covering the back.

In case you noticed the lack of diversity in the children on this part -- if you could see the whole wall, you'd see many types of kids represented. I chose this part of it to post because of the writing at the top.
