Stayton city lights after dark in Stayton Oregon

Guest photographer Denny Barnes captured this view of Stayton at night. It’s a view those of us in town don’t get to see, and it’s pretty danged awesome. His description:

This is a shot of Stayton after dark on the same night I shot the comet. Lots of pretty lights with the reflection of them in the clouds. I see this sight every time I go to town after dark and never tire of it.

I wouldn’t get tired of it, either. Thanks, Denny!

Why, yes, I am posting a photo of Christmas lights after Christmas is over. That would be because I have one singular non-Christmas photo I can post, so I’m taking advantage of the near-Christmas vibe for as long as I can. This house happens to be my own.

I hope everyone who celebrated Christmas had a great holiday, and that everyone in general had a great Tuesday.

My Christmas holiday tree in Stayton OregonMerry Christmas Even to those who celebrate the day, and happy Tuesday to everyone everywhere! Unless you are on the other side of the world, where it is probably Christmas already, so… Merry Christmas! And happy Wednesday!

Today we have an intentionally out of focus Christmas tree. It’s not my Christmas tree, though, it’s actually one my neighbor’s had decorated in their yard. But if you want to see my tree, click on the thumbnail at right. It’s actually in focus. Funny, that.

Tomorrow I’ll have another Christmas tree, taken by a guest photographer. Stay tuned.

I found these polar bears invading a yard the other night. I’d hear polar bears were large creatures, but these two were pretty small. Strange.

Oh, look. Christmas lights. I haven’t posted those for the last several days or anything. I took this photo in my front yard, because there are lights in my front yard, and I have a camera. So I took a picture. And posted it here. Today. Well, technically, I wrote this a few days ago, but it’s getting posted today. Whenever today is. I’ve lost track.

We have a treat today — Stayton firefighter Matt Aalto submitted this photo of the Ladder 80 fire truck decorated in Christmas lights. Matt also included a description of how it was made:

We have been taking our 105 foot aerial ladder all over the place this season to show off our lighting display and spread the Christmas cheer! We will have it in the community a few more times before the season is over. Attached is a photo recently taken at the Keizer Festival of Lights parade. There are over 4000 lights, 35 extension cords, a signing Santa on the front and a 7ft tall Santa on back, 1 audio receiver, 1 computer, 2 Light O’ Rama control towers all connected with Ethernet and power cables. There are 8 programmed songs and a few hundred feet of insulated wiring. 4 weather proof speakers and a Honda generator are all involved in making the lights work. The project was completed by the staff and volunteers and has over 100 man hours involved. Our biggest challenge was to keep the Ladder in service at all times. In the event of an emergency, the Ladder can be made ready to fight fire in less than a minute even in the middle of a light show!

We hope that you have a great Christmas!

Thank you, Matt! And thanks to all the firefighters in the Stayton area, and all over the planet. You guys and gals are simply awesome.

More Christmas lights, because that’s what I have to post. I took this one somewhere or other, possibly on a street off of Locust St., but I can’t be sure.

Yep, another shot of Christmas lights. I like Christmas lights, so I’m taking advantage of things and posting as many as I can before Christmas is over.

As a side note, there is a little sign on the house (it’s not visible in the photo) which says “beware of the attack poodle.” Duly noted.

I took this in the newish neighborhood off the newish part of 3rd Ave. at the north end of town.

More Christmas lights for today. I can’t remember where I took this, but I think it was somewhere off of Locust St. Look at all the snowmen! Maybe it’s some sort of snow people family reunion. And someone invited Rudolph and Santa Claus. Yes, I’m sure that’s it.
